Powers

What the companion performs

Choose useful moments for the face: focus sessions, wellness nudges, music, system updates, playful reactions, and expressions you control.

  • Work · short break · long break

    Focus timer

Start a focus session, watch the countdown at a glance, and get a small celebration when the session ends.

  • Quiet hours respected

    Wellness nudges

Set friendly reminders to stretch, drink water, or look away, with intervals and quiet hours that fit your day.

  • Live media session

    Now playing

See what is playing and let the face react when a track starts or changes, on Mac and Android.

  • Volume · power · audio · more

    System pulse

Turn useful system moments into quick face reactions: volume, charging, headphones, unlock, appearance, heat, network, and low power.

  • Optional power hook

    Slap (hook)

Connect Slap for desk-tap reactions, soundbites, and friendly leaderboard moments. You control it from the Slap app.

  • Gestures · moods · AI authoring

    Idle cycles & Studio

Use playlists and expression sets when the day is quiet. Agents can suggest new expressions, clearly labelled for you to inspect, reuse, or delete.

Sensors & system

It reacts to the machine, not a camera

No camera. It reacts to the system moments you choose and does not keep raw sensor readings or typed text.

  • Volume & mute

See volume changes at a glance, including mute and a small celebration at full volume.

  • Power & battery

Get quick reactions for charging, unplugging, low power, and a full battery without opening Settings.

  • Audio devices

When headphones connect, see the device name and watch the companion put on its own pair.

  • Lid angle & lift (Mac)

On a supported MacBook, lifting or tilting the screen prompts playful reactions that settle when the machine does.

  • Thermal · network · unlock

See a quick reaction when the device runs hot, goes offline or online, unlocks, or changes appearance.

  • Android sensor moments

React to motion, pocket, light, and selected accessibility moments. The companion does not keep raw sensor readings or typed text.

Agent hooks

Claude Code, Codex, and your automations

Connect supported tools, choose the moments that matter, and turn them into face reactions, notifications, short spoken lines, or private summaries.

  • Progress · permission · done

    Claude Code

Connect Claude Code and let the face signal progress, completion, or a permission request that needs your attention.

  • Attention · done

    Codex CLI

Connect Codex and get a face reaction when a task needs attention or completes, without watching the terminal.

  • Choose your events

    Your own automations

Connect long builds, scheduled jobs, and other tools you use, then choose a face reaction for the moments that matter.

  • Face · notify · speak · summarise

    Reaction choices

Choose how progress, success, attention, and errors appear. Add a notification, short spoken line, private summary, or another automation when useful.

Voice

On-device voices or ElevenLabs

Let the face speak with lip-sync. Stay private with a voice on your device, or bring your own ElevenLabs key for more voice choices.

  • Speak with lip-sync

Let the companion speak in your configured voice while the face lip-syncs, best suited to short conversational lines.

  • On-device voice

Use a voice already available on your device, with matching lip-sync and no speech request sent away.

  • ElevenLabs

Bring your own ElevenLabs key for lifelike voices, Scribe, sound effects, music, and voice design. Generated audio is saved for playback; the companion can still lip-sync what you play.

Where it lives

On Mac, it lives by the notch. On Android, use it in OpenAlly or choose the optional camera-edge view. Approved agents can control expressions and speech.

What it needs

No camera. The optional camera-edge view on Android asks for display-over-apps permission. Voice features are opt-in.

The skill that drives it

Grant Companion Face to an agent when you want it to control expressions, speech, and the face's idle moments.
