What you need
A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) running macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Intel Macs are not supported, and the app will say so rather than install and misbehave.
Installing it
Open the disk image, drag OpenAlly into Applications, and launch it. There is no right-click-to-open dance and no security warning to click past: the build is signed and notarized, so macOS checks it with Apple and gets on with it.
Staying current
OpenAlly keeps itself up to date, and updates are required rather than optional. When a new version is out the app downloads it and restarts into it, so every install runs the current build, there is no way to stay on an old one. That is why this page is one you should need only once.
Checking what you got
Every download publishes its SHA-256 above. Run shasum -a 256 on the file you received and compare, if the two agree, the bytes on your disk are the bytes we built. Updates are signed separately, and the app refuses any it cannot verify.
What is in 1.0.2
- Health comes to the Mac: medicines and their schedules, prescriptions and lab reports read into a private vault, and a clear view of how a number has moved over time.
- Every payment now leaves a receipt. Open it on its own page and keep it as a PDF.
- The plan screen tells you what a purchase will actually do, and holds still while a payment is in flight rather than letting you tap twice.
- Save a generated picture wherever you want it, through the ordinary macOS save panel.
- Your account at a glance in Settings, and a sign-out that can wipe this Mac's copy of your data when you hand the machine on.
- Cancelling a running task stops it properly, and says what went wrong when it cannot.
Earlier versions
Listed so you can see what changed and check which version you are running. Only the newest build is available to download, older ones carry issues that later releases fixed.
